Code_Aster®

Since its creation 12 years ago, Code_Aster® has been continually developed and enriched by EDF's Research and Development Department as software of numerical simulation in mechanics of the structures. Largely used for expertise and maintenance of transmission lines and plants for electricity generation, this code can be applied at the moment in a large list of domains, such as :

Code_Aster® is not simply a solver, but even more: a complete numerical platform. Thanks to the process control language Python, the digital processing and adaptability are unlimited. In particular we can outline its capacity to create dedicated functions, macro orders and specific numerical tools. Available in free distribution under LPG license, it is possible to access to the sources and therefore to make internal modifications to the code, introducing new functionalities, new constitutive relations and additional Finite Elements.

Cast3M®

Cast3M® is an advanced calculation code for analysis of structures based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) and Fluid Mechanics modeling. At the beginning, this code was developed by the Department of Mechanics and Technology (DMT) of the French Atomic Energy agency (CEA).

The development of Cast3M® is placed on the framework of Research activities focused in Mechanics field. The objective was to define a high level instrument, able to be used as a valid support for design, dimensioning and analysis of structures and components, in the nuclear field as well as in the traditional industrial sector. From this point of view, Cast3M® possesses a complete system, integrating not only advanced calculation functions, but also the necessary functions for mesh construction (preprocessor) and for treatment of results (post-processor).

"Internal" programs

COCASE

Cocase is an acronym which stands for Seismic Calculation Code for Structures based on Frameworks. It is especially dedicated to the simulation of non linear behavior of reinforced concrete structures. This program is an industrialized variation of a scientific program called EFICOS (LMT, ENS Cachan), and for its development, more than ten researchers participated in. The principal skills of this program are :

Soil-Structure Interaction calculation code

Miss3D

Miss3D is a calculation code developed by the Central School of Paris (École Centrale de Paris). Miss3D is based on the Boundary Elements Methode (BEM). La méthodologie utilisée pour traiter les problèmes d'Interaction Sol-Structure (ISS) se fonde sur une sous-structuration dynamique dans laquelle le comportement du sol sera représenté par une impédance dynamique ramenée au niveau de l'interface sol-structure. L'évaluation de cette impédance est réalisée à travers la méthode des éléments de frontière basée sur le calcul des fonctions de Green d'un sol stratifié horizontalement.
Miss3D est largement utilisé pour ce type d'études, notamment par le groupe EDF S.A. (Électricité de France) pour la surveillance des installations de son parc nucléaire.
